Leidos is looking for a Senior Communications Editor to join our NCJRS Communications program in support of the U.S. Department of Justice. The position will support the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in Washington, DC. NIJ requires an onsite writer/editor with expertise in writing about social or behavioral sciences. The writer must have the ability to Translate complex materials into plain language. Interview researchers and thought leaders at major research institutions. Write and edit magazine articles, reports, fact sheets and web pages. Work directly with clients and collaborate with other staff members. Understand sophisticated scientific methods and the application of science to criminal justice issues. Write about the implications of the science for professionals who work in criminal justice or elected/appointed officials who make policies that affect criminal justice. The writer will work closely with NIJ subject matter experts, including federal and contract staff. This will include, but not be limited to: Attending staff meetings. Interviewing subject matter experts. Working closely with subject matter experts drafting, reviewing and revising content.
Excellent writing and editing skills. Six (6) years of experience writing and editing publications and various documents. Can include experience gained while pursuing a degree. Experience may NOT substitute for degree. Knowledge of criminal justice issues/experience with social science research.
