The Role:  S&P Capital IQ is seeking a Financial Engineer in Toronto.  This team is our front end, first point of contact for our clients, and as such, will align our software capabilities to include client financial and business modeling needs, and provide constant financial engineering support and maintenance.

 

The Impact:  This role affects the company's bottom line in development and roll-out of new client technology; the Financial Engineer in the professional services group would ensure that client requests are being identified and met, enhancements communicated, and ultimately that the goals of the client are met.

The Career Opportunity:  One would have the ability to learn and advance very quickly in this role.  Our Financial Engineering roles require individuals to work at a very hands-on level, so there are opportunities to be promoted to a more Senior Financial Engineer as well as a Team Leader.

The Team / The Business:  The S&P Capital IQ firm in Toronto has a very entrepreneurial feel, and you will truly be working with the best minds in the Financial Services industry; the office consists of about 50 individuals in total.

Your Skills:  The ability to utilize excellent communication and problem-solving skills to meet the needs and objective of the clients and their business.  The ability to communicate these updates and specifications to other members of the S&P Capital IQ team (product, quantitative, specs, pre-sales, development, integration)

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Identifing client financial and business modeling needs and efficiently communicating them within the company to better address and apply them within the software.

• Analyzing pricing metrics and testing new client requested functionalities.

• Delivering business cases, or illustrations, to clients regarding the new functionalities of the software. 

• Training the client on new features of the application due to changes as requested. 

• Keep constant communication with clients to maintain a long lasting business relationship 
 

Required:

• Master’s degree along with a strong background in pure mathematics
• Ability to understand and clearly document financial and business client requirements
• Good interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with clients
