This Program Manager is a member of a global team developing software and embedded software for the industrial automation market and is responsible for ensuring programs meet and exceed business goals.

You will work in a large global organization and manage one or more programs each with development budgets, typically between $15-$50M per year. Programs are comprised of a set of projects, typically 8-10, each managed by individual project managers. You will work in the organization and through these project managers to direct, coordinate, plan, manage risks, and ensure sound and accepted engineering principles are used through all phases of defining requirements, development, test, long term support and software updates/patches.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide program management for internal and external (third party) software product developments requiring planning, resourcing, scheduling, project cost forecasting/monitoring, reporting and providing technical coordination & guidance across multiple functional areas.
  • Plan and manage multiple functional teams and project finances through negotiation with business managers and functional managers.
  • Provide in-depth and advanced knowledge in the project management discipline.
  • Responsible for financial and schedule performance of assigned projects within cost limitations and established standards.
  • Provide definition and clear communication of program priorities, expectations, issues & risk resolutions in a cross-functional project team within the immediate business as well as across Rockwell Automation on a global basis.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience in software product development and leadership roles from any aspect - development, test, or engineering management, combined with experience in software project management and/or software program management is required.
  • Experience working on a product development program involving more than 50 people over a several year period.
  • Proven experience leading multiple teams and partnering with peers to resolve conflicts, especially to obtain resources for projects.
  • Demonstrable track record of effective communication and presentation skills is required.
  • Able to clearly and concisely communicate and present information (internally and externally) to any and all levels of an organization.
  • Recognized knowledge of and experience with one or more software product development processes, either within Rockwell Automation or in a related industry.
  • Ideally have and be able to apply advanced Rockwell Automation product and solution/system knowledge, or within a similar industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management terminology is required.
  • PMP Certification is highly desired.
