What You'll Do
John Deere Power Systems is seeking a Design Engineer – Engine Systems in Waterloo, Iowa, to lead resolution of platform specific technical issues and to design heavy duty diesel engine. In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
Be responsible for engine system design and release of rocker arm covers, ventilation systems, timing gear cover, coolant pump & air inlets.
Develop and implement project plans.
Work with the product verification and validation group to define and oversee completion of activities in qualifying design changes.
Establish and execute plans to validate the designs through analysis, engine tests and bench tests.
Provide technical support to Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Management organizations.
Inspect components from test, perform root cause investigation and determine design improvements necessary to improve overall engine reliability.
Prepare engineering change notices adopting product changes in support of new product team activities.
What It Takes
We need someone with excellent communication skills who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience in a related field. In addition, we require:
- 3 years of engineering experience in mechanical components applicable to engines.
- Knowledge of product development and release life cycle.
- 3-D part and assembly modeling experience.

- Familiar with various analysis techniques and application of boundary conditions.
