MAJOR FUNCTION

Preferred applicants should have extensive experience in ILEC or related environment with carrier relations functions as well as demonstrated participation in industry groups. The National Carrier Relations Team is directly responsible with telecom carriers & service partners. Specialists support both internal and external escalations, driving restoration of complex issues. In addition, the team provides advanced level support to 911 related escalations, ensures regulatory and local number portability compliance, and supports the management of native telephone number inventories. This position reports directly to the NEO Carrier Relations Manager and has no supervisory duties.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provides advanced understanding industry best practices for 911, ensuring overall 911 compliance.
  • Provides advanced support of 911 escalations related to misroutes, no records found, and incorrect address reports.
  • Performs national 911 coordination efforts & acts as PSAP point of contact.
  • Acts as the company’s LNP subject matter expert, ensuring adherence with local number portability rules.
  • Provides advanced understanding of LNP related industry best practices.
  • Participation in industry working groups.
  • Performs national regulatory efforts including understanding and adherence to regulatory outage reporting requirements.
  • Provides initial support of interconnection and contract inquiries, CLEC Profile administration.
  • Performs national telephone management efforts including native TN inventory management, coordination of TN replenishment, filings, and compliance.
  • Performs general Carrier Relations functions including national vendor management efforts, local exchange carriers including account managers, and supporting national directory listing activities.
  • Supports a cross trained/cross functional environment.
  • On-Call escalation responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Applicant must have the ability to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to type, handle or feel; and have the ability to type and read using a computer.

  • The employee must be able to communicate on the phone with use of a headset.
  • Work is an office environment at a single location, with occasional travel for meetings and training courses.
  • Flexible hours and/or on-call may be required.

Required Skills

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • At a minimum, must be able to demonstrate an expert level understanding in the area of local number portability (rules and best practices) or in the area of NENA standards, MSAG, ALI database, 911 records and record updating processes.
  • Proven experience working in industry forums like LNPA, WG, NENA, and ATIS.
  • Proven experience escalating complex carrier management issues to various levels of carrier management.
  • Experience working with straight and caption directory listings, performing TN ordering and interfacing with telephone number pooling administrators is a plus.

Required Experience

  • Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years related telephony experience, ILEC experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years telecom experience in a CLEC or MSO Voice Services environment is preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
