The Technician program is an entry-level program for technicians to learn core Rockwell Automation product technologies and to develop fundamental onsite contract support skills.

This program prepares students to be Field Service Technicians who provide technician level services to support the start-up, maintenance and operation of variable frequency drives and automation control products for Rockwell Automation's customers.

The program includes a combination of formal classroom training and work assignments to give students hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation's products and technologies. Training focuses on both technical and leadership competencies.

Upon completion of the training program, technicians are assigned to field offices.

Once participants have located to their field assignment as Field Service Technicians, they may be responsible for:
• Product start-up, preventive maintenance, and warranty support
• Installed Base Evaluations
• Parts Audits
• Engineering drawings
• Installation validation
• Panel Inspection
• Identify and correct hardware, firmware and programming deficiencies
• Implement hardware/firmware updates
• May also include
• Vibration data collection
• Thermography
• MCC Retrofits
• Grounding verification
• Continuity testing
• I/O Checkout
• Network Checkout
Travel to work sites remote from the service technician’s field office city location will also be required. (Work assignments at remote city locations may be for extended periods of time.)

Associate of Science Degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent technological training (e.g. technological training received while serving in the military, industrial electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent industry training), with 2-3 years directly related experience preferred.

If recent graduate, candidates must have a combined GPA of 2.75 or higher. Candidates must be able to attend up to six months of formal training in Cleveland, Ohio with an additional 2 week per year possible.

Successful candidates must possess outstanding problem solving and analytical skills, the ambition and ability to work independently, have strong communication skills and excellent conflict resolution skills.

Successful candidates must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, and must be available to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet customer requirements. Work environments may include industrial plants, mines, utilities, ships, etc., which may require climbing, working in confined spaces and other unusual work environments.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without visa sponsorship.
