Job Description

 

Reporting to the VP, Global Strategy and working within a high-performance team of former investment bankers and strategy consultants, this position is responsible for developing strategic analyses and presenting and supporting the implementation of recommendations which significantly contribute to accelerating growth and performance across McGraw Hill Financial’s portfolio.  The successful candidate will take a leadership role in synthesizing complex market and industry information and transforming that analysis into actionable recommendations and results

 

Responsibilities: 

Development and implementation of the enterprise and business unit strategic plans with focus on delivering organic and global growth:

  • Support EVP of Global Strategy in development of the enterprise strategy and setting global priorities 

  • Support the development and execution of key corporate growth initiatives

  • Perform short and long-term portfolio analysis

  • Support identification and development of portfolio balancing opportunities 

  • Incorporate segment specific knowledge into corporate plan and identify gaps between corporate plans and segment plans to ensure ongoing tight alignment 

 

Global industry and market analysis:

  • Analyze and report on global industry developments, megatrends and provide thought-leadership in key areas of importance 

  • Identify “whitespace” and adjacent opportunities 

  • Provide ongoing insight into the evolving global regulatory picture and develop a coherent understanding of how our businesses might be effected 

  • Lead ad hoc analysis and projects to support corporate or LOB-specific priorities

 

High-value projects in partnership with corporate and segment leadership:

  • Support senior management requests and special projects

  • Lead/support ad hoc analysis and projects for corporate and business units 

  • Develop network of personal contacts across the enterprise to facilitate collaboration efforts 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA/MA preferred)

  • Minimum of three-five years of business experience with a background in management consulting, investment banking or corporate strategy (preferably in an industry aligned with one of MHF’s business segments)

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing business strategies and assessing business performance in a corporate environment

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead projects to completion in a complex, deadline driven environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – equally effective in formal and informal settings with senior managers at conveying key information and defending positions

  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to structure and direct sophisticated business and strategic analysis

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills who is able to build relationships across the business
