DescriptionClinical Pastoral Education Resident Work Hours/Shift: Full Time You Will Be Responsible For: Demonstrate through behavior AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork. - Utilize knowledge of the levels of growth, development, and skills for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care for purposes of clinical spiritual ministry and clinical spiritual leadership learning.
- Engage fully in learning and ministry, maintaining investment in personal learning and growth as well as the art and skill of spiritual care giving.
- Responsible to the Director of Pastoral Education and their CPE Supervisor. Maintains communication, collaboration and accountability with leaders in the Department of Pastoral Care.
- Provide regular and consistent spiritual care to patients and their families as scheduled and appropriate, without exception, regardless of: faith, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, social or financial status, always caring for patients and staff with respect and dignity.
- Work closely with nursing and other care team members to discuss issues of patient care and to provide support during personal and/or spiritual crises.

- Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with persons of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds and consistently establish and maintain relationships at significant levels of emotional maturity
- Open to learning, personal change and growth.
Preferred: - One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. accredited center
- College degree in theological studies or related field (i.e.: behavioral sciences, education)
- Graduate level theological education
- Ordained/Licensed Minister
- Ecclesiastical/Faith Tradition Endorsement
Job Summary: Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residents are spiritual care ministers and members of the healthcare team. The CPE Resident is committed to the hospital’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ. The CPE Resident is in an educational program, learning through practice and reflection the art and discipline of spiritual care for patients, patient families, and employees. As the CPE Resident learns, he/she becomes more skilled in the provision of care to those persons – from many backgrounds, belief systems and ages – from birth to geriatrics. The CPE Resident reflects a diversity of spiritual and professional gifts. Each CPE Resident will have some involvement in providing care in all areas of the hospital, and perhaps on a variety of campuses, and/or may be more involved in a certain area or with a certain age group or demographic than others. Regardless of where serving, the CPE Resident will be expected to learn effective ways of caring for persons of a variety of spiritual needs, religious values, beliefs and practices of all faiths; responding in a way that communicates compassion, empathy, respect and dignity with care. CPE Residents actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectable to all.
