Location: AdventHealth – Calhoun GA
The role you’ll contribute:
The Patient Care Tech works under supervision of the professional nurse, assisting in performing specific duties and activities of daily living in caring for age specific groups identified in the position responsibilities. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs clinical support duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to meet the needs of patients to whom they are assigned.
Performs as a team member in administering safe and effective patient care.
1. Maintains the privacy of all patients.
2. Ensures patient environment is neat and clean.
3. Maintains a safe environment.
4. Obtains vital signs per unit policy and reports abnormal findings immediately to the overseeing clinician.
Demonstrates competencies in all procedures within scope of practice and as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Professional standards
1. Communicates patient care or management problems to appropriate person.
2. Communicates effectively to appropriate individuals to meet the needs of patients, family, and the environment and reports to appropriate person as needed.
3. Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
4. Actively participates in the following: staff meetings, committees, mandatory in-services, and educational programs/offerings relevant to area of practice.
Demonstrates competency and recognizes own skills, abilities, and limitations and is accountable for own actions.
1. Seeks/solicits help or guidance from resource person when appropriate.
2. Functions in a professional manner during emergency or crisis situations.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster plans.
4. Completes work in a timely manner.
5. Utilizes time clock/T & A to document attendance appropriately.
6. Uses proper notification for use of unscheduled personal leave time.
7. Utilizes the principles of cost containment by conserving equipment, supplies, and personal time (including personal calls and personal visits).
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Requires current BLS from the AHA.
- CNA GA - License valid & current
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior acute care or outpatient experience preferred. Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, Medical Office Assistant (Back Office) or CMA certification or enrollment in nursing school preferred.
- Prior wound care knowledge and skills preferred.
