The Internship Program is for students enrolled in major fields of study that align with full-time employment opportunities at John Deere. Students may enter the program during undergraduate or graduate studies. The majority of our internship experiences are offered in the summer months, usually lasting 13 weeks.

What You’ll Do:

Mechanical:

  • Produce and/or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance.
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications.
  • Compile necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of a design.
  • Learn and apply Company engineering policies and practices; learn Company products.

PV&V:

  • Execute test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
  • Develop a detailed test plan with acceptance criteria, designing the fixtures, monitoring progress, inspection and documentation of test results
  • Meet commitments & consistently deliver quality data for product verification & validation (PV&V) assessment.
  • Provide technical support to system test organization.

Reliability:

  • Identify, communicate, and track test issues and facilitate root cause analysis
  • Conduct product reliability analysis and problem resolution tracking to evaluate product reliability performance throughout the Product Development Process and Product Validation & Verification (Test) cycle.
  • Work with numerical data, basic statistics, and reliability data analysis software
  • Work with engineering, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and marketing personnel in a team environment to achieve reliable components and reliable products 

What It Takes

  • Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Senior pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ag Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering degree.
  • Minimum required cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Willing to travel and relocate to any John Deere location in the U.S.
