The Trade Compliance Import Manager is responsible for managing global import compliance activity.
The Trade Compliance Import Manager is responsible for managing global import compliance activity while supporting the company’s growth objectives. Primary responsibilities include (i) establish policies/procedures to ensure compliance with local law in the importing of goods, (ii) facilitate global implementation of procedures to support company policy, (iii) design and execute an audit program to ensure compliance and (iv) implement corporate global import training plan. This individual will (i) respond to inquiries or notices from global import authorities and (ii) identify opportunities to minimize costs associated with importation.
Monitors global customs/classification regulatory and legislative changes and alerts the company’s leadership team and translates into actionable business recommendations and business plans.
Establish import policies/guidelines and ensure broad company awareness and compliance to various host governments’ regulatory requirements.
Initiate effective global trade network resources and business relationships with Customs and relevant local government contacts, to ensure compliance with laws/regulations and facilitate duty minimization initiatives.
Generate global import trade risk assessment to ensure sound business practices and corporate policy implementation which will include an audit process for customs/classification activity. Facilitate execution of corrective action plans with business/functions as required.
Create and deploy a balanced global import performance scorecard with key performance indicators. Develop and maintain system for import compliance information; identify, recommend and implement standard/automated global trade compliance import reporting and tracking tools.
Recognized as the global trade escalation focal point for customs related issues.
Audit and resolve issues regarding special duty minimization programs such as, free trade zone, and bonded warehouse processes/activities, brokerage and clearance activities.
Lead collaboration of review and approval of global cross functional team to approve/audit company world trade security/customs programs such as CTPAT/AEO/PIP etc.
Lead collaboration of business/functional staff to review and approve special customs programs and projects associated with duty minimization or duty recover strategies.
Influence selection of global custom brokers that will meet import control policy/procedural requirements.
Provide due diligence/integration support to teams for mergers/acquisitions.
Develop, implement, and maintain corporate global customs training program. Share knowledge with regional businesses to improve local business knowledge and operational performance and ensure compliance with import regulations.
Represent the company on regional customs committees, trade associations and industry forums.
Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws.
Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.
Business Administration/International Degree or equivalent.
Minimum of seven years of Global Trade Compliance -- international work experience managing Global Customs Trade Programs for manufacturing including import, warehousing, distribution, duty brokerage, customs, compliance 3PL/4PL external service globally.
Knowledge of corporate trade compliance programs and issues desired.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Competency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
