This position is responsible for a broad range of electrical and control drawings for utility (substation and generation) and heavy industry. You will be expected to work in a team environment with a minimum amount of supervision. As a senior engineer, you will be involved in all stages of the projects from inception to completion. You will lead the project team and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget, and are to good industry standards and practices.
Prepare electrical drawings and specifications including substation layout drawings, single line diagrams, three line schematics and wiring diagrams, cable schedules, electrical room layouts, and grounding drawings.
Perform electrical power system analyses, including the design of grounding systems, the selection of power equipment and protection and monitoring relays.
Design and specifications of Protection and Control panels.
Provide relay protection and coordination settings
Provide QA/QC reviews of internal and vendor designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.
Be able to provide construction support, perform inspections, and commissioning at sites.
Have a BSc. in Electrical Engineering or related technical diploma
Have 10 years or more experience in the design of power systems, grounding systems, and power system protection and relay schemes.
Experience with Mining and Hydro projects is beneficial
Be a Member of APEGBC or ASTTBC, or the ability to become one
Have a working understanding of both NEC and CEC codes
Have the capability to perform power system analysis including the use of software based tools ( ETAP) for protection, coordination, arc flash and load flow studies
Have a working understanding of PLC based control systems and Ethernet communication systems
High competency in English (both verbal and written).
Must have the ability to travel and be prepared to do site work
Must have ACAD skills
